So I just got a takedown notice for my post about La Blue Girl. I have no clue what in that post would have prompted a DMCA. I had my opinion of the anime (highly recommending it), the stats for the anime (manufacturer, number of episodes, my re-write of the blurb) and a buy link (supplied by the Amazon affiliate program) leading to where people could get said anime LEGALLY (because lord knows I can name off a bunch of places you can get it illegally).
The post is now gone along with all my other posts about Hentai/Ecchi. Since I have no clue what spawned the DMCA, I just decided to take them all down and save myself a headache. I’ll have to think of something else to post on Saturdays. For now, that’s nothing.
And to whoever sent the DMCA to Google — WTF!? You couldn’t contact me directly first? My email address, Twitter, FB, website, etc are all OVER this blog. It’s not like you couldn’t have sent me a direct email FIRST. Hell you could have left a comment on the post. Since all comments are on moderation, I would have gotten the message directly to my email.
What is a DMCA? did someone think you were trying to capitalize off them or something. Shame, it seems like a good way to get publicity for your product, having people post about it. how weird. I hate sneaky shit, and hate when people go the sneaky way instead of contacting to find out your side or thought behind your post. too bad for them.
DMCA is what you send to someone who is infringing on your copyright. And since only the person being infringed is allowed to send a DMCA, I have a pretty good idea who sent it and now I want to cancel my orders with them.
Usually you send a DMCA to the person who owns the site first. If they don't comply, then you go to the next level up. This person went straight to Blogger.
As a result, I have removed all the hentai/ecchi posts I had as well as any and all affiliate links I had in my manga reviews.
Wow – way to stifle your fans, right? Sorry about that, that's…..lame. You know a lot of authors love when other people blog about their work, just as I'm sure you appreciate when others mention or put up picks of your work. Hell we do it all the time when we put a pic of a book cover up. These people are cutting off their nose to spite their face.
Yeah, I'm not happy to have my blog on the DMCA list. Not in the least since I didn't do anything wrong. And if they THINK I was doing something wrong, they could have just contacted me and explained the situation.
And since they sent a DMCA to me, they better have sent one to Amazon as well since the links I was showing came from there. If they didn't send notice to Amazon too, then they were just picking on me for the hell of it. Either way, all those posts are gone and I'm not linking to anymore products, exception for Romance novels since I know the authors would appreciate the promotion.
Well, it's too bad they acted like this. I feel for you, I would be so sad and livid at the same time. It's got to be frustrating. Sorry this happened to you.
